Surah Name: An-Noor Meaning: The Light

سُورَةٌ أَنزَلْنَاهَا وَفَرَضْنَاهَا وَأَنزَلْنَا فِيهَا آيَاتٍ بَيِّنَاتٍ لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ Sooratun anzalnaha wafaradnaha waanzalna feeha ayatin bayyinatin laAAallakum tathakkaroon(a) This is a chapter We-SWT have revealed and enjoined, and herein We-SWT have sent down revelations manifest, that perchance, you may be admonished. (24:1) |
A(l)zzaniyatu wa(al)zzanee fa(i)jlidoo kulla wahidin minhuma miata jaldatin wala takhuthkum bihima rafatun fee deeni Allahi in kuntum tuminoona bi(A)llahi wa(a)lyawmi alakhiri walyashhad AAathabahuma taifatun mina almumineen(a) The adulteress and the adulterer: Scourge each of the twain with a hundred stripes. And let not tenderness in the Law of Allah-SWT take hold of you in regard to the twain, if you have come to believe in Allah-SWT and the Last Day. And let a band of the believers witness this chastisement. (24:2) |
A(l)zzanee la yankihu illa zaniyatan aw mushrikatan wa(al)zzaniyatu la yankihuha illa zanin aw mushrikun wahurrima thalika AAala almumineen(a) The adulterer weds not but an adulteress or an associatoress: and the adulteress!-None weds her save an adulterer or an associator; and that is forbidden to the believers. (24:3) |
Wa(a)llatheena yarmoona almuhsanati thumma lam yatoo biarbaAAati shuhadaa fa(i)jlidoohum thamaneena jaldatan wala taqbaloo lahum shahadatan abadan waolaika humu alfasiqoon(a) And those who accuse clean women and then bring not four eye-witnesses scourge them with eighty stripes and accept not their testimony forever. And these! They are the transgressors. (24:4) |
إِلَّا الَّذِينَ تَابُوا مِن بَعْدِ ذَلِكَ وَأَصْلَحُوا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ Illa allatheena taboo min baAAdi thalika waaslahoo fainna Allaha ghafoorun raheem(un) Excepting those who shall repent thereafter and make amends. Verily Allah-SWT is Forgiving, Merciful. (24:5) |
Wa(a)llatheena yarmoona azwajahum walam yakun lahum shuhadao illa anfusuhum fashahadatu ahadihim arbaAAu shahadatin bi(A)llahi innahu lamina a(l)ssadiqeen(a) And as for those who accuse their wives and there are not witnesses for them except themselves, the testimony of one of them shall be to swear four times by Allah-SWT that he is of the truthful. (24:6) |
وَالْخَامِسَةُ أَنَّ لَعْنَتَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ إِن كَانَ مِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ وَيَدْرَأُ Wa(a)lkhamisatu anna laAAnata Allahi AAalayhi in kana mina alkathibeen(a) And for the fifth time that the curse of Allah-SWT be upon him, if he be of the liars. (24:7) |
AAanha alAAathaba an tashhada arbaAAa shahadatin bi(A)llahi innahu lamina alkathibeen(a) And it will avert the chastisement from her if she swears by Allah-SWT four times that he is of the liars. (24:8) |
وَالْخَامِسَةَ أَنَّ غَضَبَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهَا إِن كَانَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ Wa(a)lkhamisata anna ghadaba Allahi AAalayha in kana mina a(l)ssadiqeen(a) And for the fifth time that Allah-SWT's Wrath be upon her if he is of the truth-tellers. (24:9) |
وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ تَوَّابٌ حَكِيمٌ Walawla fadlu Allahi AAalaykum warahmatuhu waanna Allaha tawwabun hakeem(un) And had it not been for the Grace of Allaah-SWT and His-SWT Mercy upon you, and that Allah-SWT is Relenting, Wise, you had been lost. (24:10) |
